Book Signings coming up!

The little guys to whom THE SEAGOING COWBOY is dedicated.
You can find me at two book signings next week autographing copies of The Seagoing Cowboy. Sunday, November 24, I’ll be at the “Meet the Author” event at the Springboro Historical Museum, 110 S. Main Street, in Springboro, Ohio, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. And Saturday, November 30, I’ll be at the New & Olde Pages Book Shoppe, 856 Union Blvd, in Englewood, Ohio, at their Holiday Open House from 1:00-5:00 p.m. The Seagoing Cowboy makes a wonderful Christmas gift for that pre-school or elementary school student on your list! Stop in and say hello if you’re in the area. If you’re further away, the book can be ordered through Brethren Press.
Sharing Heifer Project history at Brethren Retirement Community
I had a grand time sharing the beginnings of Heifer International with the residents of the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville, Ohio, last week. The Southern Ohio Heifer Project Committee was a big player in those beginnings. In return, many of the residents shared stories of their own involvement.

Peggy Reiff Miller invites Ivan Patterson to share his experiences as a seagoing cowboys in 1945.

A book signing for residents followed.

All aboard! The Seagoing Cowboy launches today!
Today is the release date for my children’s picture book The Seagoing Cowboy published by Brethren Press. It’s been a long time coming, and I can’t be more excited!
Claire Ewart’s vibrant illustrations bring the story to life, and book designer Paul Stocksdale’s map illustrated with historical photos following the story adds tremendous value to the book.
I’m grateful to Brethren Press for taking on this project and to all the seagoing cowboys who have shared their stories with me. You can purchase the book here.
Claire Ewart and I will be signing books at Better World Books in Goshen, Indiana, from 6:00 to 8:00 tomorrow night, April 1 (no fooling!). I’ll have my private launch party on Saturday, then head on down to Little Rock, Arkansas, where I’ll be presenting at Heifer International as part of the Arkansas Literary Festival on Saturday, April 16. Watch my events page on this website for something near you.
Brethren Press hosts reception for THE SEAGOING COWBOY
“The Seagoing Cowboy” author Peggy Reiff Miller (at center in the back row of the photo below) joined Brethren Press staff and two real-life seagoing cowboys and their spouses for a prerelease reception with the Church of the Brethren Mission and Ministry Board on Sunday afternoon, March 13. The two Heifer cowboys–Matt Meyer (front left) and Merle Brown (front center)–were presented with copies of the new children’s book. By happy coincidence, in 1946 they served on the same boat taking a shipment of horses to Bremen, Germany; in later years both served on the Church of the Brethren staff; and now both attend Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren in Elgin, Ill.
